GAZELEY (now GLP) POZZAGLIO ED UNITI (CR), LOMBARDY

A low consumption logistics platform with optimized storage

This logistics platform intended for the well-known chocolate producer Walcor was built by GSE Italia in 2011 on behalf of Gazeley. GSE followed the works at 360 degrees, starting with the development of the administrative procedures for obtaining the building permit, continuing with the study and development of the internal layout and the turnkey construction of the building, including cooling systems.

The warehouse has an area of 29,000 sqm and hosts handling and storage activities of food products at a temperature of 16-18 °C. Particular attention was paid to the optimization of storage and the reduction of the building’s energy needs. In the first case, a total capacity of 12,300 pallets with a height of 240 cm on a drive-in system and of 17,600 on a pallet racking was reached, all concentrated on an area of 18,620 sqm. In the second case, the objectives were achieved by means of a flat roof with increased insulation and facades with a mixed structure, in prefabricated concrete with thermal break in the base and sandwich panels in the upper part, to guarantee a more performing thermal insulation of the building.

What struck us most about the work done with GSE was the professionalism of the people who carried out the works and the great ease of relating to a large group in the same way as a small local company. This certainly greatly facilitated the reduction of timings.
